The Maybach sedans are DaimlerChrysler's ultimate expression of elite luxury-car splendor. Unveiled in 2004, the Maybach comes in two basic configurations: the standard-wheelbase 57 and the ultra-long-wheelbase 62, which stretches the already impressive 225.3-inch overall length (and 133.5-inch wheelbase) of the 57 to 242.5 inches overall riding on a 150.7-inch wheelbase. These specifications qualify the 62 as the longest passenger sedan on the market by a good margin. The standard engine in the 57 is a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V-8 that develops 543 horsepower. A sporty "S" model of the 57 released last year offers a 6.0-liter V-12 and more than 600 horsepower, along with 20-inch wheels, carbon fiber trim, unique paint, and a more aggressively tuned suspension system.
